The times, they are a changin’

Until recently my life has been full of likes and dislikes. I have navigated my way through my 20’s following closely the things I like and trying desperately to avoid the things I don’t care for.

Likes:

  • 90’s grunge music
  • Hiking
  • My wife and dogs
  • BBQ
  • IPA’s
  • Biking
  • Travel

Dislikes:

  • Reality TV
  • Home Depot
  • Drinks with fruit in them

The major reason for this blog is because my relatively easy life full of likes and dislikes is about to be turned upside down. My wife and I are expecting a son who (if he does what he is told) will be arriving in 6 weeks.

But wait, I’m the big kid in the house. Just ask, well…..anyone. Now I have to get my act together and act like a responsible adult because there will now be a little person who needs me to make good decisions.

Half priced beer on Wednesdays at Luna and lying on the couch watching Family Guy re-runs may have to take a backseat. Spontaneous trips hiking in Western Maine or nights in the Old Port may have to be replaced by organized, planned and scheduled activities.

I’m not sure how this will work. More importantly I am not sure what parts of my new life will fall under the likes and which ones will fall under the dislikes. I’m hoping the blog thing falls under the likes, though I’m sure this will not hold true for everyone other then my mother (hi mom).

I can say that even if you don’t like my writing, and could care less about the trivial happening of a 20-something “manchild” you might at least be able to relate to the change that is coming my way and laugh (as hopefully I do) at the mistakes I make along the way.
