What late night football means to dads

I’m going to let you in on a little secret. I may complain a bit about how prime time football games keep up me too late on a Sunday night but I’m here to tell you the truth. I love it.

Sunday night football is the best thing to happen to NBC since they got pitched a show about “nothing”.

Unlike games played at one and four, eight-o-clock games come without kids or housework. My son is still to young to watch football. He would rather we play with his toys or read book (how selfish of him). I catch bits and pieces of daytime football games, but never fully get into the game. Plus when the sun is up there is always something else I should be doing. Cleaning, yard work, house remodeling, you name it.

So during tonight game, I’m going to kick my feet up, drink an ice-cold beer, and watch the Pat’s game. True, I may fall asleep by halftime, but I’ll be dreaming of the Patriots next night game.
