Thank you Hollywood for letting my kid be a dork just like me

I was born in the early 80’s. What this means is 2 things. First, I am starting to feel really old when I get up in the morning and second, I grew up with the best cartoons ever created.

I mean was there anything better than Transformers and G.I. Joe, The Ninja Turtles and He-Man?

Though these cartoons all faded away, Hollywood has turned forgotten shows into big bucks. In the past 8 years we have seen 2 G.I .Joe movies 3 Iron Man movies, 4 Transformers movies another boot of the Spider Man franchise and coming next a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Movie opening this weekend. Since 2000 there have been 7 X men movies with 2 more currently in the works.

Many complain that they have had enough but at the risk of my brain turning to complete mush I say keep them coming. My son is still too young for all of Michael Bay’s mega blockbusters but I have friends who are enjoying sharing characters from their youth today with their children.

Along with the movies comes a flood of new (old) action figures video games lunch boxes and Halloween costumes. I look forward to my son being just as excited about his new X-Men action figures as I was when I was young; going to movie premiers together and dressing up like robot cars from outer space on Halloween

I’m secretly pulling for a Thundercats movie at some point too.
